Space were asked to create a design for the new restaurant and servery counters at Tong Garden Centre in Bradford. With a brief to accommodate a large number of customers, there needed to be a real emphasis on pace of service and how customers would move through the restaurant. The catering team at Tong would be offering of both self-service and served hot food.
The starting point for the team at Space is always to spend time understanding what the needs of the client are and interpreting briefs. Using years of experience in turnkey catering projects, Space offered the team at Tong some exciting suggestions on how they may best use the space to benefit both customers and staff. After considering all the options Tong settled on the scheme they felt was right for their business based on their knowledge of what would deliver the best for their customers.
The final garden centre design included two very large servery counters, the first being a large u-shape with deli counter serving coffee, cakes and cold drinks. This counter also incorporates a small dish wash room located at the rear. This feature delivers a significant time-saving in getting clean crockery back for the customers to use. The second of the two servery counters is an inline counter serving hot food. This counter is beautifully finished in brushed aluminium with retracting hanging pendant heatlamps. The whole project took only twelve weeks from start to finish and the team at Tong were very happy with the results.
